The Dinner Plate

I believe the quality of life begins on the dinner plate. - David Kline

I believe that the quality of life begins on the dinner plate. Food is something we cannot do without and live. Those of us living on agriculturally productive land are fortunate. Not only can we produce food for our livelihood, we can grow food for our families and ourselves. At mealtime we often look at the food on the table and see how much was grown on our farm- practically all of it except the salt and pepper and my favorite habanero pepper sauce. -David Kline in Letters from Larksong Farm

Letters from Larksong Farm is the second book written by David Kline that we’ve read. I’m glad a reader brought him to our attention last year. Young to old, we all enjoy his writings on farming and the natural world. So much so we even subscribed to his magazine, Farmer’s Magazine thinking we’d all like reading it on our spare time as well. I’m looking forward to getting that first issue and continuing to glean from the wisdom he shares.

  1. I’m very fond of John Seymour, reading his books feels like sitting across the table from him with a cup of tea.
