43+ Recipes Using a Food Strainer

Using a food strainer makes food preservation and canning easy! It's great for applesauce, salsa, and grape juice. We’re in the thick of it now folks! It’s canning season!

Time to fill the pantry and put up all of that wonderful harvest you’re reaping after the hard work of spring!

In some ways I find the harvest season to be more difficult than the work that was invested in the garden preparations. Canning is rough.tireless.work!

By the end of a long day of canning, I’m dog tired, sticky, sweaty, irritated about still having to do the dishes, and most of all I’m wishing I had found the time to go outside. I know winter is on the way (I’ve spent all day preparing for it) and the hardest part of winter is being cooped up inside!

So anything that makes the work of canning a bit easier and, more importantly, QUICKER  is such a blessing!

Let’s take a Food Maker & Sauce Strainer for example… the summer that thing walked into my life, putting up big batches of food became a breeze and gave me the liberty to actually enjoy spending more time outdoors in the fresh air & sunshine! I can’t begin to tell you how thankful I was for this wonderful canning tool!

The strainer comes with a tomato & apple screen which will get you started in the sauce making of both for what amounts to being the two largest canning tasks of the year. There are other screen accessories you can purchase and swap them out for specialized jobs, like dealing with berries and their seeds, chunking up salsa, or pureeing pumpkin or other winter squash.

Really the only thing that would make this  Food Maker & Sauce Strainer better would be if you didn’t have to hand crank it. I mean, not everyone has helpers as eager to use the pusher while I crank as my little ones are. And even then, these little ones won’t be staying little forever. I guess what I’m thinking is wouldn’t it be nice if it had an Electric Drive Motor Accessory?

Wait. You mean they do?!! Awesome! (Check it out here!)

I imagine that once you have your own,  you’ll find this to be as imperative a tool for your canning kitchen as I do.

I have compiled over 43 recipes you will be able to make using a food strainer!
