Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9
It’s odd, but I feel such a responsibility to decorate and beautify our new home in a truly meaningful and deliberate way, yet still according to my taste. More with my children’s souls in mind, rather than my favorite boards on Pinterest. I plan to tread slowly and carefully making additions to the decor. (Well, except for curtains and rugs. The echo in our home is unbelievable and with 7 going on 8 children, I’m sure you can imagine how vital those articles will be to my sanity this winter!)
One factor that has been firmly decided upon, however, is that our home will be covered with the Word of God. And as much as possible.
With that in mind, and in the spirit of Deuteronomy 6:9, the first adornment was made last week to the entry door by “writing (God’s word) on the posts of our house.”
A very dear and special friend of mine who I met through this blog and have been corresponding with and encouraged and challenged by over the years has begun a new entrepreneurial endeavor with her husband and family whereby they are “writing God’s word” so that you might beautifully and tastefully and functionally adorn your own home with their heirloom-quality work. It is my fervent prayer that the Lord would bless their vision and that the fruit of their family economy would reach out into many of your homes!
Today, I would like to introduce you to their website and handiwork…
As well as give away an upper door casing for your very own home!!
The Haven Enterprises offers a growing range of various stunning, rustic, useful products especially suitable for the generationally-minded including cutting boards, spoon rests, and trivets for your kitchen.
We began searching for a way that we could work together as a family combining our unique talents to make an income and serve others in the cause of Christ. Much of the wood for the pieces on our site come directly from our property or from our local community. We are committed to quality work that will stand the test of time, hopefully to be handed down to future generations in your family. Our main desire in creating these custom works of art is to encourage the growth of Christian culture and truly set apart, salty, strong Christian families. We try hard and often fail big, but It is our constant prayer that God would bless the work of our hands, and that this work would bless you also.
They also offer personalization and customized work to meet your needs.
Our home is full of oak. From the trim to the baseboards, paneling, and cupboards and so white trim wouldn’t have worked well in our situation. They quickly were able to fashion my new door casing from the oak I needed to match as well as the verse I wanted to have written on it. (Which to the long-time and observant reader you’ll notice is the same blessing as that on the sidebar of my blog.)
With many of you turning your minds to gift-giving, might I suggest you consider a meaningful and timeless expression of your love through one of these products?
As to the door casing, we absolutely LOVE ours and have plans to change out all of the casings in our new home over time. Bear in mind as you think of the permanency of this product that it can also be used as a sign about your current door post or mantle if making a more than temporary change doesn’t suit your situation.
Now, let’s get down to business.
To enter the giveaway for your own upper door casing, please follow the instructions in the box below. (Subscribers will need to click through to enter.)
