Grow It, Cook It: Children’s Gardening & Cookbook Review

I made quite a discovery during our last outing to the library in a beautiful cookbook for children called Grow It Cook It. My daughter is eager to try her hand at many of these recipes and is begging me to add this one to our cookbook bookshelf.

 Through the discussion of plant biology, this book is made even more attractive to this homeschooling mama.

Better than just a cookbook, Grow It Cook It first teaches how to raise the fruits or vegetables showcased in each dish straight from seed right in your own soil. The instructions for propagation are urban gardener friendly so you don’t need a great garden plot to teach your children how to grow their own vegetables.

Here’s a sampling of recipes you’ll find-
 {Giant Beanstalk Stir Fry}

 {Lemonade Ice Pops}

 {Mini Pumpkin Pies}

 {Mashed Potato Fishcakes}

 {Blueberry Cheesecake}

 {Carrot & Orange Muffins}
 And if that weren’t enough, there are additional recipes suggested for each produce selection!

 Finally, there is are simple instructions on seed saving as well as instructions for a crafty little box to make for storing your very own seeds.

I’ll bet by now you may be wondering if the recipes are as delicious as they appear to be. I’m sorry to say that I have yet to sample one since, save for the stray zucchini or two, our garden has yet to produce anything except for lush plants. You can count on me to share if one of the girls in my kitchen whips up a winner.

Are you familiar with this cookbook? Any favorite recipes to suggest?
